COMMUNITY
The Santa Paula Union High School District encompasses the town of Santa Paula.  It is located in the Santa Clarita Valley in Ventura County.  The District is located 65 miles northwest of Los Angeles and 15 miles east of Ventura.  It is on Highway 126, which runs east and west betwen Highways 101 (Ventura) and 5 (Saugus).

The temperature is uniform and mediterranean.  Scenery of mountains, valleys and streams combined with huge oak and citrus trees make Santa Paula a very highly desirable place to live.  Recreation, sports activities, as well as a nearby Community College, California State University Channel Islands, California Lutheran College and U.C. Santa Barbara.

For years the community was primiarly agricultural, residential and a growing number of retired people.  The area is still like that, but because of its desirablity as a place to raise a family, is experiencing more residential and even more is anticipated.


DISTRICT
The tradition of academic excellence is over 100 years old in the District.  The first high school was established in 1888 as a private "academy."  This Academy grew into Santa Paula Union High School in 1891.

The District has two schools:

        Santa Paula High School (Comprehensive) - Grade 9-12 - Approximately 1,629 students

        Renaissance High School (Continuation) - Grades 9-12 - Approximately 120 students

The District also operates the Santa Paula Adult Education School.  In addition, special education programs are offered:  Independent Study, Home and Hospital Teaching and the Bridge Program.

The District provides a comprehensive educational program and an excellent reputation.  It has high student morale and enjoys excellent community support.
