Speech and language services
Speech and language therapists assess, diagnose, treat, and help prevent speech, langauge, cognitive (thinking), communication, voice, swallowing, fluency, and other related disorders.


Speech and language therapists work with the following students:
  • Students with the inability to make speech sounds or cannot make them clearly
  • Students with voice quality problems, such as innappropriate pitch or harsh voice
  • Students with swallowing difficulties
  • Students with problems understanding and producing language
  • Students with speech rhythm and fluency problems, such as stuttering
  • Students who seek to improve their communication skills by modifying an accent
  • Students with cognitive communication impairment
  • Students with a hearing loss who use hearing aids or cochlear implants inorder to develop auditory skills and improve communication
